I wish to apologize for being slow at getting
this posted. It took me this long to dry out. The
photos posted are not the best quality, the camera got
wet. Still trying to figure out how that happened.
Valley ATV Club Annual Picnic “2006”.
We had 11 members & 1 guest in physical attendance.
For those that could not make it you were in our thoughts.
On Friday, Nick, Dave, Mike, Randy and Bret
were the first to arrive. Followed by Dennis and
Corey. Our Host & Hostess “ Tom & Brenda “ had
picked out a prime location for us. The view was fantastic
and for Friday the weather was great. We spent the time we
had setting up camp and having a little supper (steak and corn
on the cob). Started a camp fire and just kicked back and
relaxed. Nick, Mike and Bret all where given some
instructions by Brenda on Dozer operations. The Majestic
staff works very had at keeping the trails well groomed. Then at
approximately 4:30am, it started. The sound of rain drops on the
tents began. By 7:00 am we had a light but steady
rain. This seemed to be just enough to knock down the
dust. We started off the day with some bacon, eggs, hash
browns and English muffins. Oh yea lets not forget the
coffee and O.J. By 9:00 am we were on the trails.
The rain was still falling on and off.
Light showers one minute with down pours the next. This
was the weather pattern right through to Sunday morning.
About 11:30 we got back to the campsite and found the rest of
the gang had slid into camp. Pat, Glen, Mark &
Bob. Lets not forget Tony and Amy.
Well, it was still raining with short periods
of non-precipitation. We headed out on out machines to the
trail head where we were served up some lunch. Burgers,
dogs, chips and soda. Oh, yea lets not forget those pickle
spears (I think these where the best part of the lunch for
Glen). After lunch it was an afternoon full of rain, mud
and fun. We hit the trail loop that had the mud holes and
we played in the big water hole. As usual anyone that
tried to take on Dave in the water hole ended up a looser. I
know first hand, I got it a couple of times. It was not
bad except for the mouth full of grit. As it approached
dinner time we where all pretty well soaked to the bone.
And ready to end the riding for the day. We headed back to
the campsite where everyone cleaned up and tried to dry out the
best they could. Yes it was still raining.
For supper on Saturday, the crew at Majestic
Kamp & Lost Trails put on a very good meal. BBQ
chicken, corn on the cob, macaroni and potato salad. I
think I can say in confidence that we all had plenty of good
eating on this weekend. After supper the club had some
gifts from some of our sponsors. There was something for
everyone thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. We had
goggles, T-shirts, sweatshirts, riding gloves etc. Oh, yea
even a rear view mirror that found its way to Pat ATV before the
Saturday ride even started. A group photo of those in
attendance was taken and can be seen in the photo gallery along
with other wet shots from the weekend.
Well, some of us had commitments on Sunday so
we headed off for home Saturday evening. For the rest of
the crew they stuck it out until the sun started to shine and
dry things out Sunday morning. For those who traveled home
on Sunday they had great weather for it. The Valley ATV
Club, sends out a BIG THANK YOU, to Tom and Brenda Fitch and
their staff at Majestic Kamp & Lost Trails. The hospitality
could not have been better and the food was great.
We also want to thank Majestic Trails, Rusty
Palmers and May’s Cattie-Shack for donating some fantastic
items used as giveaways (door prizes) for our club members.
